The Louisville Urban League Young Professionals (LULYP) is an auxiliary organization of the Louisville Urban League.
The Louisville Urban League Young Professionals (LULYP) was organized in January 2000 by the Louisville Urban League to develop Tomorrow’s Urban Leaders through community service, professional development and public awareness. As a chapter of the National Urban League Young Professionals, LULYP accomplishes its mission by educating and encouraging its members to become actively involved in local civic, social and economic issues that affect the Louisville Metro community.
LULYP supports the Mission of the Louisville Urban League: As an active partner, leader and catalyst we will assist African-Americans, other Minority Groups and the disadvantaged attain social and economic equality and stability through direct services and advocacy.
Why is LULYP necessary?
LULYP is vital to the growth of Louisville Metro because the organization provides a structured leadership environment for urban men and women to develop their professional skills and talents. As a result, LULYP is able to promote “change” within Louisville Metro by being a bridge that connects community resources to the needs of residents.
LULYP empowers its members to be engaged in the community for positive change in the community through leadership development, advocacy and community service. Since inception, LULYP has implemented a number of projects, seminars, and networking opportunities to accomplish its mission. LULYP members are introduced and connected to seasoned professionals for mentoring and guidance purposes. LULYP advocates for the development of social capital through relationship building, networking, and civic engagement.
